A three acre pool with ten pegs, all with electrical hook up, stocked with around 55 carp, 10 grass carp, 6 catfish and a handful of big bream.

The larger of our two specimen waters and with a much lower stocking level than Mill Lake, Lodge is a specimen water in the truest sense of the term. Featuring three, heavily planted islands and more underwater features than you can shake a marker float at, Lodge will really sort the men from the boys.

With an average weight of around 24lbs and the biggest so far at 32lbs there are some very special carp in Lodge, from dark scaly mirrors to long golden commons, we've got them all. To complement our stock of quality king carp we have a good head of specimen Grass carp, ranging from around 19lb's up to our current lake best of 31lb 6oz and half a dozen spectacular Catfish up to a current lake best of 44lbs 8oz, huge by anyones standards, massive by the North west of Englands standards. Finally there are a number of big Bream in Lodge, with the biggest so far recorded being  12lb exactly.

If you're up for a challenge and love big scaly carp and massive cats, Lodge is the lake for you.

Tactics

With its low stock of fish and heavily featured bottom, Lodge presents a real challenge to even the most experienced of anglers.
Early season the carp tend to show first from the very middle of the lake before they start to hug the margins as the temperatures rise. Quality freezer baits tend to score best on the lake and we'll always advise as to what's been producing the most fish when asked. Before we opened, the fish were fed on a diet of pellet so these can be a good addition to your baiting strategy and we stock a good range in our tackle shop.

Pop-ups and bottom baits both score well with zigs always producing a few bites to those who have the confidence to use them.  Surface fishing in the Summer months is a very viable tactic, though the fish can be very cagey so stealth is key.

£20 for 24hrs

£12 for 12hrs

A two and a half acre pool with 17 pegs, all with electrical hook up, stocked with around 280 carp and a dozen catfish
Fringed with iris and other water plants, Mill Lake is a beautiful piece of water. Mill has four heavily planted islands and countless underwater features from deep gullies to shallow plateau’s and has been designed so that every swim has something to fish to. Though there are 17 pegs on the lake we let a maximum of 12 anglers on the lake at any one time so there is always plenty of room.

With an average weight of around 14lbs Mill can provide some fantastic sport if you get your tactics right with multiple hits a distinct possibility. The biggest Carp so far is a big scaley linear mirror that has topped out at 26lbs and with commons to over 24lbs and catfish up to 31lbs Mill is by no means a pastie water.

Tactics

Just because Mill has such a large head of fish doesn’t mean you get away with being careless with your presentation and tactics, simply turning up and piling the bait in is rarely the best way to approach things and we’d always recommend fishing for a bite first rather than putting all your eggs (boilies!) in one heavily baited basket. Like on Lodge, the fish show a clear preference for quality freezer baits so if you’re going in with boilies ask in the shop what’s been producing. The Mill fish love a pellet and a matchmans ‘little and often’ baiting strategy can usually be relied upon to produce consistent results. In the colder months maggots can provide action when all else is failing though they’re hard to present when the water warms up and the silver fish become more active. Bottom baits, snowmen and pop ups all score well on the day and don’t discount fishing a float down the side in the summer  as there’s some lovely marginal spots you can trickle bait into discretely through the day when the ducks aren’t watching!
