A two acre, iris fringed pool, heavily stocked with mixed coarse fish.
The mixed coarse lake at Four Seasons is known as Newtons, this water is suited to match and pleasure anglers alike. There are 44 pegs on the lake and the water can comfortably host 35+ anglers in a match situation.
A perfect water for both beginners and experienced anglers, Newtons is one of them lakes where you really never know what's coming next ,you'll be happily sat there bagging up on small carp and ide when suddenly the float will bury and you'll be hanging on for dear life as a 5lb tench makes for other end of the lake, great fun.
Species wise, the lake is heavily stocked with a wide variety of fish including carp, f1's, crucians, bream, skimmers, ide, tench, chub, perch, roach, rudd, gudgeon, ruffe and there's even a handful of golden tench in there. For those who like to target the bigger fish there are specimens present in most of the species in the lake with carp going up to 18lb+ bream to 9lb tench to 6lb+ and some cracking perch to over 3lbs.
Tactics
With the stocking levels as they are in Newtons a wide range of tactics can and do provide excellent sport with all the old favourites scoring well at the right time, maggot, pellet, corn, meat etc. Pole, waggler or tip fishing are all methods that work very well on the day so it's very much down to personal preference as to how you go about your fishing. In the Summer months when the iris are fully up, you can have a fantastic days sport fishing right under your feet and steadily trickled pellets will keep the bites coming right through the day. In the colder months the fish can often be found in the deeper water in the middle where maggot or chopped worm can come into their own. The matchmen tend to favour the pole, fished tight across to the far bank (a reach of about 14m) in the matches and this does undoubtedly score well when there's a bit of pressure and disturbance on the water. Our match record so far is 100lb 8oz and we're expecting that to go up and up as the fish grow and the matchmen get to grips with what is still a reasonably new venue. Pleasure anglers have had some cracking sessions on the water with warm Spring/Summer evenings being generally exceptional .
