Winter Ticket News
Sorry to mention the "W" word at the start of August but just wanted to let you all know that we will be running a Winter ticket again this year from the 15th October to the 15th March.

the full ticket costs £300 and allows unlimited fishing throughout the winter on any of our waters and the midweeks only ticket costs £250.

if you plan on doing a fair bit of fishing with us throughout the colder months, and fancy bagging yourself a whacker or two in beautiful Winter colours like Joe here with this stunning 20lber drop us an email at fourseasonsfisheries@btconnect.com or call us on 01253 894357 to register an interest.

and remember, those of you that normally put the rods away through the colder months, with the optional 240v on each of the pegs on the carp lakes, Winter needn't be as uncomfortable as it used to be...!

Mega Brace
A fantastic, well deserved, brace of fish here for Midleton rod Stuart Leech who followed up this 41lb 8oz Lodge Lake catfish (right) with one of Lodge's finest carp, Big H at 30lbs 6oz. a halibut pellet proving too much for the cat to resist whereas Big H slipped up to Mainline Cell, a bait he's shown a definite liking too! the carp was a pb for Stuart who's had a torrid time trying to get past the 26lb mark for some years, what a way to do it... with a THIRTY!
the cat wasn't a pb, Stuart had caught Lodge's other 40 a couple of weeks back at 44lb... what a water!

great to see Big H piling the pounds back on after he was last out at a slightly alarming 26lb and oz's. by all accounts the big fella fought very well and looked in great shape on the bank, fingers crossed he pushes on into the mid thirties now, gorging on all those lovely Cell boilies you lot give him!

master blanker breaks his duck
If I had to pick one man to catch a fish to save my life, Simon Nickson would be quite a way down the list.... A LONG WAY DOWN THE LIST!!! but, miracles do happen and here he is with his new pb in the shape of this stunning 15lb Mill Lake common, this fish that has finally drawn the curtains on an epic, year long blank. the relief flowing from Simon right now is palpable!

well done pal, hope you get a bag full

PB grassie
venue regular and friend of the fishery, Dave Sykes, with a superb Lodge Lake grass carp. first fish out of Lodge for Dave and he's not put a quarter of the time his pal Les has!!! i was fishing two pegs down from Dave when he had the grassie and was woken by his dulcit tones shouting "BEN, got a fish on, and it's BLOODY MASSIVE" good start to any day! 25lb 5oz, caught on a KG1 boilie from peg 11

NEW 30lb CARP
great news at Four Seasons. not only our first 30lb carp of 2010, but the first time this particular fish has broken the magical barrier. venue first timer John Gerzsei with the big half linear at 30lbs 8oz from peg 2 on Lodge. John came into the shop to book on in the morning and saw the fish's picture up on the wall and commented on how he'd "love to catch that one" well it took him 6 hours!!!!
pellet hookbait doing the business

NEW LODGE RECORD COMMON
a new Lodge Lake biggest common here for venue regular Andy Gilliver. this cracking specimen tipped the reubens round to 27lb 8oz and fell to a dynamite tigernut boilie fished from peg 2 after Andy moved onto showing fish. the best bit of this story is that this same fish was coming out this time last year at around 22lbs... fingers crossed it keeps up those growth rates... keep those delicious boilies going in lads !!
18 Jun 2010
30lb Lodge cat
John Dunderdale with a well deserved 30lb and ounces Lodge Lake cat. half a tin of luncheon meat the winning bait. John had tried hard for one of the cats for a good few rod hours and was finally rewarded with this beast, well done pal

Four Seasons update
time for the weekly Fishery update, and another load of cracking pictures to show you all. apologies if some of the details of the captures are a bit sketchy, I've been on holiday for the week, and Jon's passed onto me the pictures he's managed to get during the week.

first up is Joe Whitehead (left) who continues to plunder his way through Lodge's carp stock with this gorgeous 24lb scaley mirror known as "Ashton". seems ot be a very good angler does young Joe, well he consistently outfishes his poor grandad who fetches him down every time he can, you'd best let him have the next one Joe or he'll stop bringing you!

next up, over on Mill the Catterall clan got very much amongst the fish with the biggest going to young Matthew (right) with this beautiful 20lb + common, cracking fish!

Still on Mill, and here's Ian Gautrey (below)who had a cracking session landing 6 carp on pellet, the biggest, a pb, going 20lbs 1oz. great stuff.

finally for now, Ian's fishing partner Dave Green also managed to catch himself 6 Mill lake carp, with this lovely mirror tbeing the biggest at around 18lbs.

30 May 2010
weekly update
bit of a mixed week at the fishery with one or two quiet days followed by other more frantic ones

venue regular Andy Gilliver spent a couple of hours just watching the water before deciding to set up on peg 3 on Lodge, and the observation paid off when he landed his first mirror from the lake within an hour or so of starting with this pretty 24lb scattered linear (right). a homemade black pop up over a scattering of Dynamite Baits hemp doing just the job for Andy.

also on Lodge, Terry Twigger (left) managed to smash his pb of 10 long frustrating years when he landed Big H, a bit down in weight at 27lb 8oz. a snowman rig consisting of a Mainline New Grange bottom bait and dynamite tiger nut popup proving too much to resist for the big girl. though the fish was a bit down in weight it looked in great nick and will hopefully pile those pounds back on through the warmer months.

apologies for the Lodge Lake bias on here, there's been plenty coming out of Mill too but i've just not had any photo's sent through this week, Here's Ellesmere Port rod, John Davies with an absolutely gorgeous long, lean Lodge mirror at 25lbs. Mainline Pulse pop up with a scattering of pellets caught at short range from peg 4. keep your eyes out for John when your fishing, he's ace with a camera and did me proud with some top quality snaps of a lovely mirror i managed to winkle out whilst he was fishing with us, cheers pal!

as mentioned before, John's pretty good with a camera!
here's lucky old me with the gorgeous Starburst Mirror out of Lodge
the fish weighed in at 23lb 4oz having clearly shed a bit of spawn.
dynamite tigernut pop up fished just of the front of peg 9 the winning formula for this and a 23lb grassie. been using some new (to me) hooks lately, the Nash fang twisters in sizes 8 & 10 and touch wood, they're doing a grand job, that's 8 fish in three overnighters with none falling off.... unheard of for me, long may it continue!

as i mentioned earlier we've been a bit short of pictures of Mill Lake fish, however there have been good numbers coming out, with the biggest i'm aware of going 22lbs to Manchester lad Gareth Everett

Newtons continues to fish it's head off and threw up a pretty special result on Sunday with our first ever TON UP match weight, Graham Simpson weighed in 100lb 8oz fishing meat across to the island, amazingly Graham was a bit annoyed with himself for not fishing the match so well and reckoned he should have had a good lot more than what he ended up with... matchmen!!!! it wasn't all about one person bagging up either as Alan Lord managed to equal our previous best match weight with 72lbs and Martin Longworth came third with a very creditable bag of almost 60lbs. this waters just going to get better and better and with spaces still available for match bookings of 2011 be sure to mention it to your club secretaries and get in quick.

finally, just a little heads up that we've now got a freezer in the ticket office/shop selling good quality boilies (dynamite baits at the moment) and deadbaits for the cats.

mega catch report
Lodge Lake has fished it's head off this last week or so. Adam Johnston managing to winkle out 4 on Sunday with 4 carp to 28lbs (single scale) and this 44lb 8oz cat

it must have been fishing well because even Ben managed to get a few on the bank this week, with 5 carp to 25lbs (below) and a nice 22lb grassie. all fish falling to Grange boilies

over on Mill the fish have also started to really wake from their winter slumber with decent numbers showing up and some of the better ones
amongst them, the biggest being Gaz Weekes 23lb and ounces fat linear (right) caught on the new marukyu boilies tipped with sbs corn

I've got no pictures from Newtons this week, but don't let that fool you, the lake is fishing it's head off. we've had match weights of 62+ with back ups of 58, 57, 55 etc and pleasure anglers are catching a fish a chuck from pegs all around the fishery.

that's about it for this week, keep checking our facebook page for more immediate updates.

tight lines

and finally, we had a new Lodge Lake record catfish out last week
44lb 10oz to Josh Walsh, the pictures weren't great but the fish was!

RULE CHANGES
As we've been open for a year now, we thought we'd have a look through our rules and see if anything could do with changing.

with that in mind we've decided to make a change to the nets/mats/slings rule on the two carp waters. from now on, you ARE allowed to use your own tackle, so long as it's up to the job. unhooking mats must be substantially sized and well padded and all anglers must be in possesion of a 42inch landing net at least. those who would prefer to use the Four Seasons tackle can still do so, though a £50 deposit is now payable, which will be refunded on departure from the fishery. if you're using your own tackle, it needs to be thoroughly dissinfected in the dips provided before entry to the fishery will be granted.

similar changes for anglers fishing on Newtons as well, you may use your own landing nets, but they must be thoroughly dipped before fishing. if you still wish to use the Four Seasons equipment there will be a refundable deposit of £10 per net.  * during matches, Four Seasons nets only *

and finally, the new barrier at the entrance to the fishery must only be operated by Four Seasons Fisheries staff only... we don't want you banging yourselves on the head or damaging your motors!!
09 May 2010
New Barrier
in the interests of security we have recently installed a barrier at the entrance to the fishery.
this will be locked from around 9:00pm every evening and will not be opened again (except in the event of emergencies)
until 8:00 am in the mornings.  no visitors are allowed onto the site between these hours unless prior
arrangement has been made. anyone wishing to leave the fishery early or nip out during the evening
is advised to park their car on the top car park (by the shop and cafe).

Four Seasons update
firstly, i'd like to apologise for being a bit slow getting this new page updated over the last couple of weeks. there's seems to have been a million and one jobs to be done recently and you can rest assured the lack of updates has nothing to do with a lack of quality fish coming out as all three lakes have been fishing very well, as demonstrated by Barry Bagnall's 41lb 8oz cat (right) from earlier this week. from now on i will update this news page on a weekly basis with a comprehensive round up of everything that's been occuring at Four Seasons. for more imediate info on catch reports (and a fair bit of banter!) you can follow us on facebook (search "four seasons fisheries" and add us)

New Lake record!!!!
And the cats keep on coming!!!!! This time it's the turn of Ken Stones with Mills Biggest cat at 31lb 3oz!!! Just up on its weight from last year which is of course a fantastic result for a catfish, my guess is, its been happily feeding on the result of two big spawns from the carp last year.

Well done Ken, a great achievment!!!
24 Apr 2010
Mill Lake Mirror!
Dwayne Hodgkinson from peg 11 on mill with this crackin mirror weighing in at 16lb!

Joe Whitehead!
Name: Joe Whitehead
From: Stalybridge
Caught on mainline pineapple juice pop up 15mm on a KD rig

Caught 5 mins after I put the rods on the floor to pack everything away as it was going dark . Earlier that day I  had seen the same fish take a dog biscuit 10 ft away from my peg I cast a rig to it but nothing I put it back out to the island and caught it so I got it after all.

23 lb 4oz
Well deservered Joe, Well done!!!

Two crackin' Lodge Cats!
Two crackin' Lodge Cats have shown this weekend, first up is Neil Anyon with this beauty at 31lb caught off the ever faithful peg 10; using SBS Poppers sat over a spodded bed of pellet, maize and ground bait. And secondly Adam Johnston with Lodges Biggest at a fantastic weight of 43lb, that’s only 1lb less than when it was last seen. Avery small weight loss over the winter practically guaranteeing it to be in the high 40's by the end of this year! Caught using half a tin of spam hair rigged with a 0/2 hook!
(Neil Anyon)

Lodge Lake mirror falling to Mainline Fusion boilies
10 Apr 2010
Single Scale
Here's one of the jewels of Lodge Lakes crown, Single Scale  at 28lbs 8oz, caught by local lad Lloyd Benson. a single Mainline New Grange boilie placed on the head of a showing fish produced the bite within 10 seconds. the bite might have come quickly but the scrap wasn't in danger of ending in similar fashion as the lump gave the Lloyd the proper run around for about 25 minutes. great stuff Lloyd!
09 Apr 2010
Lodge common
local lad Josh Winter making the best possible use of the Easter hols by banking a fantastic new pb in the shape of this gorgeous 22lb 8oz Lodge Lake common. 2 grains of maize fished over a fairly heavily spodded area proving too much for the fish to resist. excellent angling Josh
09 Apr 2010
Cats back on the prowl
WOW! first cat of the year... all 41lb 6oz of it! the lucky captor was Danny Pearson from Ellesmere port and the incredibly hard fighting fish fish fell to a red fish boilie fished over a bit of pellet spod mix, superb.
07 Apr 2010
Super Joe!
Always nice to see the younger anglers doing the business. here's Joe Whitehead, 15, from Stalybridge who's had a superb day on Mill Lake
first up he broke his pb with a 16lb mirror (below), followed it very soon after with an 11lb common and then another short while later beat his new pb in fine style with this cracking 20lb2oz mirror (right) all fish falling to mainline cell dumbells over a bed of hemp and pellet. well done Joe from all at Four Seasons.
03 Apr 2010
onwards and upwards
a cracking run of form for Boltons Paul Wilson, catching progressively bigger fish on each of his last three trips to Four Seasons. here he is pictured with a lovely 17lb 14oz mirror caught from peg 7 on Mill. well done mate, that 20 is surely just around the corner!
01 Apr 2010
Mill Continues to Produce!
Mill continued to produce last night to both Ian Ormrod and Paul Wood. Firstly to Ian, (top picture), with this stunning mirror tipping the scales to 17lb, caught using the ever faithful Maggot Ring. And then to Paul with this fantastic common weighing 16lbs. considering the horrendous weather last night this is certainly an achievement, well done lads!!!
31 Mar 2010
New Fish Coming Out!
Incredible, two of our new beuties already banked by Steve Bates!!!
There obviously not the sulking type, these fish hadn't been in the water
24 hours before they started feeding, there gonna stir things up down there!!!
28 Mar 2010
anything you can do...
Not content watching his mate John bag a 27lb 8oz mirror yesterday, Mark Storey decided to go one better in the shape of this belting Lodge Lake lump of 29lb 3oz. a single chocolate malt bottom bait chucked to the middle of the lake producing the biggest fish of the year so far for Mark and in the process smashing his own pb by over 11lbs. great stuff
27 Mar 2010
The big girls are stirring

venue first timer, John Lee of Shevington with a cracking Lodge Lake kipper of 27lb 8oz. a fish that I don't recognise at all so if you've had it yourself in the past let me know, I'd love to know how it's progressing. a single hookbait doing the business in fine style for John, well done fella.

26 Mar 2010
Lodge again
I think it's safe to say the fish in Lodge have properly woken up now, here's Kirkhams Wes Lawrenson with a lovely 21lb Mirror caught on a small pineapple pop up over a pva bag of finely crumbed boilies using a very small crusher. certainly did the trick
25 Mar 2010
magnificent Mill brace
a superb brace of Mill lake carp for local rod, Mark Horsfield. a lovely deep bodied common that's very distinguishable by the small scaleless patch on it's tail, that tipped the scales to 20lb 4oz, followed up half an hour later by the lovely hard fighting mirror of 17lbs. both fish falling to hair rigged pellet. the weights of both fish were a bit surprising as the both looked considerably bigger, new scales needed methinks Mr Horsfield!
23 Mar 2010
LODGE STUNNER
look at this for a proper carp

Lodge Lakes awesome "Starburst" at 25lbs, caught by local angler Christian Almeida on a tiny pop up with a bag of crumbed boilie.

22 Mar 2010
Jasper!
Eddie O'Hara here with the mirror nicknamed "Jasper" from Mill Lake at 12 1/2lb!

22 Mar 2010
First Cat of 2010!
Niel Anyon being the lucky one, managed to hook this whilst reeling in his rods to change baits. Spawny begger!!!
No monster by any means at around 5lb but it does show there on the move aswell as the carp!
20 Mar 2010
Oh My God!
I don't believe it, I just wrote about how Lodge has finally given us a fish, and then it goes and does it again. This time to
Andrew Gilliver. Sitting quietly in his bivvy minding his own business smoking his vanilla tobacco (that’s right) he jumps up and hits into this immaculate common of 23lb. quite a recognisable fish with that funny swirly scale pattern on it's left flank and up a pound and a half on last year which is always nice!! that's FORTY Four Seasons Carp to andy since October, Top Rod by a mile despite his fruity smoking habits!!!!!
19 Mar 2010
Paul Wilson, AGIAN!!!
Once again Paul Wilson shows us all how it’s done on Mill Lake with this mint Common of 16lb 13oz. Caught using a Source Boilie, topped with the ever faithful, SBS Corn Shaped Pop Ups!

19 Mar 2010
Lodge Lake Produces!
Seems a while now since we wrote anything on here about a Lodge fish, Jan 26th to be precise, but its finally happened. We've been seeing the carp move around for about a week now but no one seems to have been able to figure out how to tempt one to take bait.
Aran Kirk however has done just that using a Shellfish B5 boilie. She’s not one of the big ones but never the less, stunning!
16lb 8oz
14 Mar 2010
cracking mill common
No stranger to this page, Blackpool's Ben Wilson with a 16lb+ mill lake bar of gold. maggots once again doing the business. Spring is definitely springing!
14 Mar 2010
Wayne Hodge big Mill double
a cracking Mill Lake double for Poulton-Le-Fylde's Wayne Hodge. the night time fish weighed in at 18lb 2oz and the other beautifully proportioned specimen tipped the scales at 19lb 6oz. both falling foul to Mainline Cell boilies

Paul Wilson
Bolton Rod Paul Wilson here with this beautiful winter colour mirror weighing in at 16lb 4oz. Caught from peg 11 on the Maggot Clip.

08 Mar 2010
Mill Action
the buzzard, Frank Shaw, had a cracking spell of action on Mill with three fish on the bank and a couple more lost. all fish falling to the same rod within a couple of hours. maggots doing the business. nothing huge showing up, this being probably the biggest at around 13lbs but look at the condition of the fish... imaculate
02 Mar 2010
the bait man of Ellesmere Port
Ellesmere Port's Martin Burkett with a cracking scaly 15lb Mill Lake mirror caught
at 5:30 this morning. unfortunately for Martin (and us) it was too early and too cold for his mates to get out of the bag to take some pictures so we have to make do with phone shots. the fish fell to a Dynamite Source boilie, tipped with an sbs corn popper glugged in liquid source, presented with a bag of Dynamite tigernut stick mix again glugged in Source...... or something like that! honestly, Martin could open a bait shop from his bivvy with the amount of gear he's got in there! still, it's doing the business and putting fish on the bank, great stuff!
01 Mar 2010
Spring has Sprung
Newtons fished it's socks off yesterday in the Poulton/Fleetwood res club match
top three weights were 45lb (peg 31) 40lb (peg 5) and 35lb (peg 29) the biggest two bags
were made up mainly of carp from 1 - 5lb with the 35lb bag being almost totally made up of
quality skimmers.

this lake is going to throw up some huge match weights this year.... watch this space

Snowy mirror
The current run of better form on Mill is showing no signs of stopping, no matter what weather the gods decide throw at us, here's Bolton's Andy Croston with a Snow caught 15lb 12oz mirror landed at 8:00am this morning. a fish of strange tastes this one, it falling foul to the most disgusting smelling boilie I've ever had the missfortune of smelling (at 8:00 am on a Sunday morning). cheese and onion, eugh! good angling in very difficult circumstances Andy.
19 Feb 2010
Icy common
not the biggest fish in Mill Lake by any means but still a cracking achievement for Tom Murray of St Annes who managed to winkle out this 8lb common from the one area of lake that was ice free on his arrival. caught on the float, 3 feet in front of peg 8, Great Stuff!

17 Feb 2010
Mill switches on
after what feels like an age since i last had capture pictures to put on here, I've suddenly had 3 in one day! Manchester rods Kieran Brennan and Owen Breen showing everyone how it's done firstly with a cracking 14lb leathery mirror then following it up ten minutes later with a small common of about 8 or so. some old skool mainline NRG's doing the business for the lads. the other fish that was caught is on my phone and I'll get the pic on ASAP.

your help, please
We're planning to extend the range of the stock in our shop over the coming weeks
and we'd like to ask you guys some questions

what are YOUR favourite boilies ? pop ups ? pellets ? particles ?

what bits of end tackle do YOU use that you think give you the edge?

we'd really appreciate your feedback as we think that the best way for us to make our shop better
for you, the anglers, is to listen to you before we stock it. we'd also really like to hear any other (sensible!) suggestions
you might have with regards to all aspects of the fishery

first carp of 2010
as promised, the first carp out of Lodge 2010. caught by Lee Mac from the deeper water in front of peg 11.  popped up boilie with a light scattering of freebies doing the business. as i said before Lee also lost a much bigger mirror at the net with the same tactics.
25 Jan 2010
off the mark at last!
Finally the news we've all been waiting for. after what feels like forever
venue first timer Lee Mac landed the first Four Seasons carp of 2010 in the
shape of a pristine 18lb 5oz common. unfortunately for Lee he then went on
to lose a much bigger mirror at the net (gutted!) but at least we're back in
business.

Lee sent me a picture of the fish which i have on my phone, so as soon as i work
out how to get it from there to here i'll post it up (don't hold your breaths, i'm hopeless!)
19 Jan 2010

call 01253 894357 for bookings
16 Jan 2010
positive weather update!
Newtons Match lake is now almost totally ice free, with at least 30 fishable pegs

Mill Lake has about 6 fishable pegs with more opening up all the time

Lodge Lake unfortunately remains unfishable but the thaw has started and small patches of water are appearing and spreading

good news at last!
07 Jan 2010
happy new year
Well we're back in after our xmas break and we'd like to wish you all a happy new year

the good news is the café is back open for business

unfortunately as it stands right now the lakes are still covered with very thick ice and aside from
one peg on Mill Lake, completely unfishable.

first come first served for that one peg on Mill by the way so if you fancy a picture of yourself  with
a carp in the snow give us a bell. go on, you know it makes sense!
28 Dec 2009
Lakes closed
unfortunately just as it looked like the thaw was setting in the freezing weather has bitten back with a vengeance
and the lakes are back solid again. so with no break in the frosty weather forecast the lakes will be closed until the
7th of January. there are two pegs that have remained frost free on Mill and these can be used by winter ticket
holders only.

hope you all have a fantastic new year and we look forward to photographing you behind a monster in 2010
26 Dec 2009
weather update
hope you all had a fantastic christmas and the hangovers not too bad!

just a quick update on the conditions here, despite a solid day of rain Lodge Lake
remains totally frozen and unfishable. Mill is faring slightly better and there are 3 pegs
fishable due to the aerator working it's magc.
19 Dec 2009
big freeze!
local angler Kurt Brewster woke up to this frosty scene, all three lakes with half inch lids on them!

there's one peg on mill that's fishable at the moment due to the aerator being in... first come first served !!!

got rain forecast for later so hopefully the lakes will be back fishable either later today or in the morning
11 Dec 2009
Mill RECORD
never one to miss out on an opportunity, George Cook of Longridge jumped in on the back of Andy Gilliver on peg one on Mill and within half an hour was proudly cradling the biggest carp out of Mill to date, in the shape of the big lumpy linear at 26lbs. the big kipper falling foul to a bunch of maggots popped up off the deck in about 5-6ft of water (the same piece of water that Andy had previously deposited 8 pints of maggot... ouch! that's gotta hurt!)

Guess Who?

Yep, thats right, Mr. Gilliver once more. This time with the infamous Starburst Common, at 15lb. I uploaded the last report, walked back outside and there he stands playing another fish, come on Andy, share the secret!!!

09 Dec 2009
Andrew Gilliver AGAIN!
Andrew Gilliver here showing us all once again how it's done on Mill Lake with this 13 lb Common. This being his 31st fish on the bank since buying his Winter Ticket, (money well spent I think).

poulton anglers match tomorrow
we've got a club match on Newtons tomorrow and i've got a feeling there's going to be
some decent weights coming out, judging by what the pleasure anglers have been doing
this week. it's been a fish a chuck to almost everyone on there and i don't think 50lb+ will
be out of the question if the right anglers draw the right pegs.
02 Dec 2009
heroic Lodge capture
Ben Forshaw battled through weather of almost biblical proportions to land this Lodge Lake character. in three days Ben experienced the lot, frost, rain, wind, hail all that was missing was the plague of locusts! anyhow, it all pales away when the alarm burst to life and though it is one of the smallest fish in Lodge, this 17.8 oz mirror is just as hard to catch as the rest of them and hearty congratulations go to Ben for our first December carp. a bright pink pop up tipped with corn fished as a single hookbait doing the business.
01 Dec 2009
stocking boost for Newtons
great news for you pleasure anglers and matchmen, we've just stocked
over 1400lb of fish into Newtons to compliment our existing stocks, so the
days of struggling for a bite are well and truly over and should remain so
right the way through the colder months as the fish we've stocked were
predominantly F1 carp, a species well known for having a year round appetite.

give us a call on 01253 894357 if your interested in fishing for this new bounty or
if you fancy booking a match, we still have plenty of dates for 2010.

Big H loves his maggots
Leyland rod Ste Cross with Lodge Lakes Big H, caught within 30 minutes of moving onto a showing lump. a bunch of fake maggots and an SBS corn popper proving the great fish's downfall. Though still a little bit down on it's top weight, at 28lb 6oz, the fish has never looked in better condition, which is great to see and i'd wager it'll be back over 30 by Xmas

14 Nov 2009
20lb Mill common
just back from a weeks fishing in France, here's Jamie Coad proving he can do it over here too with a belting Mill Lake common of 21lbs. the fish coming out on a small pop up fished kd rig style from peg 6.

05 Nov 2009
Amazing Lodge Mirror

Check out this awesome Lodge Lake mirror that fell to the rods of Ben Wilson. the fish weighed in at 29lb 12oz, agonisingly close to the magical 30lb barrier but you can't be disappointed by a fish of that calibre. Once again maggots doing the business for Ben who's pretty damn chuffed with his week so far. 2 fish 2 pbs. Incidentaly, the same fish has been out earlier in the year (you can see it lower down the news page) to Alex Mollart at 24lb 8oz... that's a weight gain of over 5lbs... AMAZING! and for those more cynical among you, I witnessed both weighings and everything was above board!

02 Nov 2009
Awesome Lodge Common
Blackpool angler Ben Wilson, smashing his pb by 5lbs with this awesome Lodge Lake common of 24lbs. the immaculate fish having the temerity to interupt Ben's playstation session as he sheltered from the howling weather. maggots once again proving the downfall of the fantastic fish. Great to see one of our Winter ticket holders doing the business. Lodge has done 6 fish in the last week after a long spell of not so much, looks like they're beginning to feed up.

01 Nov 2009
Mill bonanza!
Bolton's John Johnstone with a lovely Mill lake mirror of 14lb 6oz falling to maggot's from peg 12. the second fish he's had in 20 minutes.
Mill really is fishing superbly at the moment with numbers of fish coming out all around the lake (the most recently being 11 in a 48 hour session). get on there whilst the goings good!
01 Nov 2009
Salford boys doing the biz
Salford rod William McDonald with an 18lb Mill Lake mirror caught on meat tipped with plastic corn from peg 3. loads of fish coming out in the wild weather we're having, great work lads!
01 Nov 2009
Callum Brady, Mill Lake 20
unfortunately a bit of a blurry picture, owing to the terrible conditions, but there's no denying that this is a cracking fish for Salford rod Callum Brady. the lump weighed in at ounces over 20lbs and fell to SBS corn shaped boilies from peg 2 on Mill
31 Oct 2009
Nathan the nutter!
a mildly psychotic looking (did i say mildly?) Nathan Grimes with an early hours mill lake common of just over 14lbs. those Salford lads know how to get amongst em... even when it's not on their own rods, eh Nathan !
29 Oct 2009
Stuart Welch, Day Session!

Stuart Welch with a 24lb 7oz mirror caught on sweet corn off peg 4 on Lodge.

We always had our suspicions that Lodge Lake was going to be a good Winter Water and so

far it hasn't disappointed.

24 Oct 2009
Don't Forget The Camera!
Unfortunately no pictures for this one but i thought it worth a mention anyway.
Manchester rod David Ross joined us here at Four Seasons for his first visit to the complex last night and is going away very happy. Fishing peg 17, closest to the Café on Mill, he managed to bag three commons. Starting with an 11lb Common followed by a 14lb 8oz common and then just to top things off a 15lb common. All three fish fell to the SBS Corn Shaped Boilie, showing that they are still doing the business. Well done Dave, but next time, BRING THE CAMERA!!!!!
23 Oct 2009
Lodge Lake Lives!
Wow, after what seems like a life time of waiting to see a carp from Lodge Lake after such a fantastic start to the year we finally have one. Simon Green had an awesome 25min battle with this specimen mirror, weighing in at 22lb 15oz. Is this a sign that Lodge is turning on for the winter? We all know there is an abundance of natural life in there, but when winter comes these fish are going to have to turn to the angler for feed!!! Caught with just a few maggots on the hook, and a small PVA bag of maggots.

22 Oct 2009
Mill Lake beauty!

Andrew Gillivan here proves that the Winter Ticket is well worth it!!!

A 24 hour session saw him hauling 4 fish in total out of Mill Lake with this

one being the largest at 21lb 4oz, well done Andy. Caught with Maggots

surrounded by Four Seasons trusted pellets!

08 Oct 2009
like london buses!

after braving the elements earlier in the week with great reward Stuart Mcgill decided to have another go on Mill for the day (fortunately in better weather!!!) and was rewarded with this absolutely immaculate common of 17lb. a fish that I'd like to bet is destined for much bigger weights in the very near future. Stuart also winkled out a smaller common of around 10lbs but he's gotten so blasé about the littluns he didn't even take a picture! only kidding Stuart, very good angling.

06 Oct 2009
Mill 20
here's a rather windswept but well happy Stuart Mcgill with a well earned Mill Lake common of 20lbs caught on a pellet in the margins of peg 8 during a short day session. apologies for the lack of recent updates, not had a right lot of photo's to share with you all to be honest.

Mill record

Thornton's Brian Cleary with a new Mill Lake best of 25lbs exactly. not bad for your first trip to Four Seasons Brian... not bad at all!!!

17 Sep 2009
more Mill hauling
Bury rod Andy Whitworth came within a whisker of setting a new Mill Lake carp record with this fine common of 24lb 10oz, you don't mind getting woken up for those, look at the rudder on it! The cracking specimen being the biggest of a 4 fish haul for Andy, who had mirrors of 18+ and 13+ and a smaller common.
16 Sep 2009
Winter Ticket
In line with the couple of recent changes, another thing that we've toyed with the idea of, is introducing a Winter ticket to fish our carp lakes.
It's all at the very earliest stages of planning as yet and nothing is set in stone, but we would like to get your thoughts on it. ie, is it something you'd
be interested in?

We're thinking of a 6 month ticket, running from October the 14th right up to the old close season on the 14th March, costing somewhere in the region of £200.

please let us know what you think
15 Sep 2009
Mill Lake on fire

yet another pb out of Mill Lake, this time this lovely 17lb 13oz common falling to the rods of Marc Francis. pop up corn tipped boilie with a bag of pellet proving too much for the fish to resist. good angling!

14 Sep 2009
it's not over till it's over
with Michelle Mcmanus loosening up her vocal chords, Four Seasons first timer Sonny Miles-Currey had just about accepted a Mill lake blank, but lo and behold, as he stood up to wind in his rods, off one of them rattled resulting in this new pb of 14lb 6oz. i bet that made for a far sweeter ride home than if he'd wound in 5 minutes earlier, well done Sonny!
13 Sep 2009
"the king" is alive and well
Steve Cowell with Mill lakes "elvis" at 19lb 14oz. the third and biggest of a three fish catch. plenty of good fish, in good numbers coming out of Mill just now. sorry for using the picture of you with your eyes closed Steve, but it made me laugh so there!
12 Sep 2009
Mill Lake's turned on!!!
Mill Lake has officially turned on, producing around 15 fantastic fish in the last 24-48 hours, this is one of two caught by Colin Sydall. The other being 14 1/2 lbs and this stunning mirror of 17 1/2 lbs. If anyone has pictures of fish caught on Mill (or Lodge) please e-mail them us and we'll get them on here for all to see!!!

Changes at Four Seasons
As the summer draws to a close and the weather starts to feel distinctly autumnal, now seems a good time to reflect on the first four months of Four Seasons Fisheries.

On the whole it's been a great start, with a huge amount of pb's smashed and some stunning fish being caught along the way, so far our lake records are as follows:

Lodge Lake : Carp - 32lbs Harry Almond
                    Catfish - 44lbs 2oz Pete Freeman
                    Grass Carp - 31lb 8oz Mark Edwards
                    Bream - 11lb 6 oz Johnno Robertson

Mill Lake  :  Carp - 24lb 12oz Andrew Gilliver
                   Catfish - 31lb Gary Lonsdale

Despite such a positive start we are not ones to rest on our laurels and we realise that things can and must improve if we're to keep the fishery moving forwards. Based on some of the feedback we've gratefully received we've decided, at this point, to make one or two changes, changes that will hopefully take the fishery on to the next level.

Firstly, we've heard of a few anglers being unhappy at people crosing lines and the fact there's too many anglers on at any one time, to this end we've decided to reduce the maximum number of anglers allowed on the lakes at one time to 12 on Mill (previously 16) and 10 on Lodge (previously 12). We will also try to control more, the actual pegs those anglers fish so, with your help, the days of crossing lines, and being hemmed into a corner, have come to an end.

We've also decided to rethink a couple of our rules, with the aim of making your fishing time with us as enjoyable and productive as possible.

# 1 - Maggots are now allowed on both Mill and Lodge Lake

#2 - Leaders are now allowed, providing either the hooklength or the lead
can easily (and i can't stress that enough) be shed in the event of a
breakage. the first tethered fish found, the rule changes back, fish safety
       comes first

#3 - fishing from proper fishing bivvies only, no camping tents

Another thing that has been mentioned is the presence of cars, coming and going on the fishery at night, this is unnacceptable and will be remedied ASAP with either a gate or barriers.

As for the fishing itself, we're aware that, Mill Lake especially, has at times fished a bit harder than we would have liked. That's not to say it's been nothing but a slog on there, that's far from the truth, with some people catching upwards of ten fish in a session, there's just no consistency to it as yet. At this point we must remember that the fish have been in Mill for over 18 months and Lodge for 12 months, relatively unfished for, I imagine it must have come as quite a shock to the system to suddenly have all that angling pressure thrust upon them, and maybe that has contributed to the somewhat patchy form we've experienced. We, of course, want everyone who fishes with us to catch a bag full and go away raving about the place, but in carp fishing, as we all know, that's not quite how it works. the stocking levels are something we're committed to looking at over the winter period and if we feel any lake needs a boost, with EA permission, we'll do it. This subject is something we'd appreciate your thoughts on, what sort of fishing are YOU after? lots more action from smaller fish, or less action from bigger specimens?

Finally, I'd just like to take the time to thank every one of you who has fished at Four Seasons in these first 4 months, it's been great meeting up with so many top lads and I know I speak for David and Jon as well, when I say it's been a real pleasure and we hope you continue to enjoy our facilities long into the future.

and please, if ever you have a suggestion, constructive criticism or just an opinion about the fishery, let us know your thoughts, we can't do anything about it, if we don't know there's a problem in the first place.

thanks again, and tight lines

Ben

Mr Tomato face
one that slipped through the net here, Paul Whitaker with the big Mill Lake cat at 28lbs +. you can tell it wasn't a recent capture by the chronic sunburn on Paul's face!!!
03 Sep 2009
the cooperman
Mill Lake regular Josh Cooper doing what he always does, catching fish. come rain or shine, howling gales or scorching sunshine Josh always seems to be able to winkle one or two out. this week he managed three in a 24hour session. a bit unlucky with the average size of his fish, Josh had 2 peas in a pod commons of 12 and a half and a slightly bigger mirror of 13lb 10oz
02 Sep 2009
Lodge lump
Venue regular Alex Mollart, with a cracking lump of a Lodge Lake Mirror of 28lb 12 oz caught from close range off peg 9 on a sbs corn popper soaked in alex's top secret glug, with a small bag of mixed pellet and maggott. i don't know what's in that glug but the fish certainly seem to like it.
02 Sep 2009
Mr Taylor back amongst em
Bill Taylor, the man who's never blanked on Lodge Lake (and he's had a good few sessions!) with a 21lb 8oz mirror caught by the inflow pipe from peg 4 on a howling new wind. Bill followed this fish up with another of 23lb a few hours later but no pics of that as yet (any chance you could email us them Bill?)
30 Aug 2009
Is Mill on the pick up?
One minute I comment on how Mill Lake had struggled and the next minute I'm posting another picture.

This time the turn of Peter Webb, a lovely 14lb 6oz mirror.

29 Aug 2009
Mill Morning Stunner!!!
I don't think anyone will dissagree when I say that Mill Lake, although having a great start to the year, has recently been strugling to produce. However every now again she has taken great pleasure in reminding us of the standard of fish in there.

This one caught by Darren Gregory, a stunning 15lb 6oz mirror, even still got its curtain!!!

27 Aug 2009
Lodge stunner
Leigh angler Steven Butterworth with a Lodge Lake stunner of (surprisingly, only) 21lb caught on monster crab boilie from peg 11. steven skilfully danced across his shagpile bivvy carpet, carefully sidestepping the kitchen sink before hitting into the lovely fish. i've seen some anglers fetch a lot of gear with them before but steven and his pal take the biscuit (a whole barrel of biscuits!!!!!)
26 Aug 2009
Mill common
Rodney Jackson with a Mill lake common of 13+ caught on Source boilies tipped with corn.
Mill also recently threw up a new lake best mirror of 25lb 6oz, witnessed by a couple of other anglers but unfortunately no photo's were taken... gutted!
21 Aug 2009
lin
another pb for Stephen Mills with this cracking 23lb 14oz linear. like all the rest of the fish that have been coming out lately, this fish is well up in weight and looking in fine fettle. it might be hard on Lodge but look at the stamp of fish you can expect!
20 Aug 2009
secret squirrel
After a tense battle that saw him get locked up with weed, local angler Mark Taylor finally slipped the net under his new pb, in the shape of this absolutely gorgeous 22lb 8oz scattered linear (well up in weight on it's previous captures). Perhaps wisely, Mark is keping quiet on what bait he caught the fish on.
19 Aug 2009
big up the vin man!
seems like this is the week all the best lookers are coming out, here's Horwich Vinny again, this time with the amazing starburst mirror at 25lb 2oz. this beautiful fish is over 4lbs up on it's post spawning low and looks to be in absolutely perfect nick. just a shame the flash has reflected off the fish so much and hidden some of the lovely little scales the fish has on it's flanks. if ever you get chance to floater fish on Lodge you can spot this fish easily as the back end of it's dorsal fin sticks up a bit and when it's cruising near the top it looks like jaws, only more nerve wracking when it's heading for your mixer!
18 Aug 2009
Stephen Mills mirror
Another of the Horwich boys doing the business and smashing his personal best on Lodge Lake is Stephen Mills with one of the best looking mirrors in the lake, at 22lb 13oz (just a shame he didn't rinse the fish off before the photoshoot!). the stunning fish falling to Four Seasons boilies fished on a clear spot very close in.

after a really slow couple of weeks I think it's fare to say that Lodge Lake has finally kicked back into gear.
17 Aug 2009
Vinny's pb
Horwich rod , Vinny, with a cracking, young looking, Lodge Lake common of exactly 20lb. the new pb for vinny being tempted by pop up corn presented on a small clear gravel patch in front of peg 4. this absolute minter is not a fish I've seen come out of Lodge since we opened. I wouldn't be surprised if this one goes onto much bigger sizes, it just has that look about it.
17 Aug 2009
happy happy joy joy
superb picture here, ha ha,

obviously super happy at smashing his pb, just look at his face, see the joy etched across his features, Horwich angler Kirk with a Lodge common of 22lb 14oz!

the fantastic fish falling to pop up corn in the early hours, of, i'm assured the 18th of August 2009 contrary to the date on the picture!
16 Aug 2009
Craig Holliday
Craig Holliday with the biggest of  two Lodge Lake commons caught in a 48 hour session. this one went 22lb 8oz, the other a shade under 20. both falling to corn poppers on clear spots in front of peg 5. lot's of nice commons coming out at the moment, and all of them up in weight on previous captures.
15 Aug 2009
who's afraid of the big bad fish?
here's Lee Bradford (well it isn't actually, but more on that later) with a Mill Lake mirror of 18lb 8oz caught on a Nutrabaits Trigga bottom bait tipped with SBS corn shaped boilie, caught a couple of rod lengths in front of peg 11. unfortunately for Lee, he is stricken with quite severe Ichthyophobia and has to rely on his brother Adam (pictured) for the trophy shots.

i can't help but think fishing is an odd hobby for an icthyophobe to pursue but each to there own!!!

(icthyophobia = fear of fish)
14 Aug 2009
Nobbys cat
local cabbie, Nobby, with Lodge Lake's "Stella" at 43lb+

13 Aug 2009
hungry common
after a quiet few weeks Lodge Lake really has kicked back into gear. here's Andrew Gilliver finally breaking his duck on Lodge with a cracking 24lb 6oz common. despite their reluctance to show themselves these last few weeks the fish are obviously still troughing as this fish was last out 6 weeks ago at 22.
12 Aug 2009
LAKE RECORD
After an epic battle of almost ONE MINUTE! local angler Johnno Robertson slid the net under this huge Lodge Lake bream of 11lb 8oz. alright, they're not everyones cup of tea but i've never seen a bigger specimen on the bank and i'd love to catch one myself. I'm fairly sure there's bigger in Lodge Lake too so come on you carp guys, weigh them!!!! it's our slings and nets that get stinky anyway so there's no excuse.
08 Aug 2009
BIG H back on the munch
Kirkham angler Neil Anyon (AGAIN!!!!) this time with Lodge Lakes Big H, slightly down in weight at 28lb 10oz. SBS corn shaped boilies doing the buisiness yet again for Neil.
07 Aug 2009
Craig Wooliscroft
Stoke On Trent rod Craig Wooliscroft with a Lodge lake carp of 21lb+ caught on Craigs ever faithfull Dynamite Baits spicy shrimp and prawn boilies. can't decide if it's a common or a fully scaled myself, I think, at a push, I'd side with the latter. either way, cracking fish, well done Craig
03 Aug 2009
Mill Common
just received this pic via email from Vincent Grey Wilson, a cracking 16lb 5oz Mill Lake common that fell to that most classic of carp baits, sweetcorn
02 Aug 2009
Mill Lake back on form
I Walk in the office this morning to be greeted by fishermans tails of every kind.
Mill Lake, it would appear, has decided to turn back on by producing
several fish last night, I havn't had any pictures come my way as
of yet but as soon as i do i'll get them on here asap.
02 Aug 2009
Lodge Lake Monster!
a complete surprise here, Mark Edwards with a monstrous 31lb 6oz (yes, you read that right) Lodge Lake grass carp. the biggest grassie we stocked was just under 27lbs so i think i've a fair idea where all of Lodge Lakes weed has gone! What a fish, and what a lake, that's three different species with specimens to over 30lb, carp, grass carp and catfish... superb. incidentally, does anyone know of any bigger grass carp in the north of England ?
28 Jul 2009
another Lodge Lake cat
the Lodge Lake cats continue to feed hard, here's Karl Croston with an early morning 28lb specimen that fell to the old favourite, luncheon meat. a new pb for venue first timer Karl, well done pal. I can't help but think someones going to have a big hit of carp very soon.
26 Jul 2009
Stuart Durant - the man with no name
in all my 32 years i've never witnessed anyones mind get so totally blown by a fish as Stuart Durant's did with this 41lb Lodge Lake cat. there were a whole host of emotions on show during the fight, and a whole host more during the photo shoot! when i asked Stuart for his name to go with the pic on the website he couldn't remember! now normally, with me, it takes a dozen or so pints of strong lager to get into that kind of state so i think we have a name for the great fish - STELLA.
25 Jul 2009
Perch
We are always posting pictures of the beatiful carp and monsterous
cats but we thought it was about time we put something on from the
match lake,(Newtons), and  David Waterhouse's timing is perfect.
Unfortunatly this perch didn't get weighed so we can only guess at
that but who cares!!! A fine specimen if ever there was.

25 Jul 2009
Mill Common
Gutted when he couldn't get on Lodge Lake, Neil Anyon (again) made himself feel a whole lot better with this superb 20lb Mill Lake common early this morning. got to be approaching top rod status now (he keeps catching loads), all his fish coming to the SBS corn poppers.
25 Jul 2009
beautiful Lodge Lake moment
a beatiful moment here, Danny Walker getting all romantic with a Lodge Lake mirror, all we're missing is candles, oysters, chocolate body paint and the soothing sounds of Barry White.
25 Jul 2009
Danny Walkers linear
a bit of a better shot of Danny Walkers 21lb Lodge Lake Linear, as far as I'm aware this is the first time this fish has been out since we've been open, well done Danny, here, have a dandelion leaf.
23 Jul 2009
Sean Evans
Sean Evans from the Cast North West crew doing a fantastic job for the Sky Sports cameraman with this 20lb Mill Lake common, impeccable timing Sean, very well done!
22 Jul 2009
Lodge Grassie
the grassies certainly seem to be on the munch
here's Geoff Radovic with a superb 25lb Lodge
Lake stunner, tempted by a hair rigged blade of
grass over a pva bag of lawn mower clippings!
22 Jul 2009
yet another grassie
a lovely picture this one,  Becca and Loz Bebbington with a Lodge Lake grassie that no matter how many times we weighed it, wouldn't quite go over the 20 mark.
22 Jul 2009
Gareth Pennington
Wigan rod Gareth Pennington with a lovely Mill Lake common of a touch over 17lbs
22 Jul 2009
top cat
Local Lad Ben Forshaw with a beast of a cat out of Lodge Lake, 43lb+ of pure power and slime!
21 Jul 2009
Tony Brooks Grassie
Tony Brooks with a cracking 20lb Lodge Lake grassie, true to form the fish put up absolutely no resistance whatsoever in the water then proceeded to go what's known in the trade as "banana's" both in the net and on the bank! well done Tony! (don't be surprised if Tony's on here again soon as the wind is hacking into his swim and it looks spot on for a bite or two!)
20 Jul 2009
Hauling on Mill

Kirk Goodwin with the best looking of a five fish, Mill Lake haul, the bigget going 19lb 10oz. I'd love to see this fish in it's winter colours.

20 Jul 2009
Lodge Lake's Scar
Paul Flanigan with Lodge Lakes "Scar"
at 23lb+, i bloody love this fish!
19 Jul 2009
Mill cat
Phil Butler with Mill Lakes big cat at 30lb 9oz.  methinks we need a name for this fish, any suggestions ? i think it looks like a "sebastian" myself.
18 Jul 2009
Corn Shape Boiles doing the business!!!
Its a sight we love to see, another stunning mirror from Mill Lake falling for the SBS Corn Shaped Boilies, no fish can resist!!!

And here's the result, not a monster but as i said a stunning Mill Lake mirror of around 12lb to Lee "Carp King" Dever. I should point out this is a nickname he gave himself!!!!

18 Jul 2009
Moley does it again

Alex Mollart with the same 33lb cat he had last week!

15 Jul 2009
Jonny carp pants
here's something you don't see every day,
Jon with an 18lb 4oz Lodge Lake common. and it is a genuine fish capture and not a stocking picture... HONESTLY! Four Seasons bottom baits tipped with the SBS corn shaped boilies proving too much for this beauty to resist.

An update at last!
Sorry its been a while since the last update but its been worth the wait!!! They seem to
have got spawning out their system and are certainly getting back on the feed.
Neil Anyon gets a congratulations for setting a new Grass Carp record off 25lb 6oz, god it looks cold!!!!
Sorry Kurt but it was gonna happen eventually!!!!

He was then followed by his mate Wes Lowrenson with this dark Lodge mirror, one of three caught by
Wes, well done buddy.

This was a great fight for Will Nuttall, a 32lb Catfish from Lodge Lake, a new cat PB!!!

We would also like to welcome a new member to the Four Seasons family, meet Billy Sharrock, with us on work expierience he certainly has caused a stir. Having never fished on the complex before he decided to set up on Mill Lake after work for a quick overnighter. Little did he know what a night he was in for, catching a total of 7 fish with the biggest being this fantastic 28lb catfish!!!

Of course with all good news there comes bad, and its the turn of Scott Bannister, an old friend of mine from Hodgson who, as you can see was not impressed with losing what can only be described as a MASSIVE Lodge Lake mirror just before it was netted. The rod behind him was thrown there, not placed!!!!

Shortest Record Holder!
Here at Four Seasons we get people every day beating there PB's, and as a new fishery we also get the lake records changing quite often, however never has one had to be changed this quickly. If you scroll up you will see that earlier today i told you about Neil Anyon who caught a 25lb Grassie. After putting it online for around ten minutes our phone rang and i was told that i was wrong and infact the gentleman on the other end had caught one at 26lb 2oz. I of course wanted to see if this was true and rectify the problem A.S.A.P. After searching high and low on our system i believe i have found it tucked away in a safe place!!!!   Our congratulations go out to Kristian Wesley for this 26lb 2oz grassie

Our appologies go out to Neil but you really are the SHORTEST ever record holder!!!

BIG H
Lee Jones, son of Frank, with the big mirror formerly known as "Warty". i was never the biggest fan of the name Warty, it seemed

Here's new angler Warren Lee who on his first ever time fishing managed to bag himself a 9lb mirror, a 12lb mirror and this cracking 20lb common from Mill Lake, all I can say is - Warren, you're a jammy sod, it took me years to get my first twenty!
15 Jun 2009
Starburst mirror
Local angler Keith Cameron doing his best to make Lodge Lakes beautiful Starburst Mirror look tiny! for the record she tipped the scales at 23lb 8oz. great to see this stunning fish piling the pounds back on after coming out on opening weekend at a spawned out 21.
14 Jun 2009
Mill Lake pb
apologies for the terrible picture but i had to get this one on here, young Josh Walsh with a Mill Lake mirror. a newcomer to the world of carp fishing Josh had struggled for a couple of sessions, but his persistence finally paid off, and in fine style when his first Four Seasons fish tipped the scales at over 21lbs! a new pb by 6lbs. well done Josh, but next time give us a shout and let us do the photography!
14 Jun 2009
Top rod!

after a quiet couple of days on both Mill
and Lodge, the lakes finally seemed to kick
into gear as Steve Fisk had a three fish hit in
a 24 hour Lodge Lake session. the last being

brace of grassies, the biggest going 23lbs

cats on the prowl

a rare picture indeed this one, a 20lb Four Seasons catfish caught during the daylight hours. two Four Seasons pop ups proving irresistable as the rod rattled off within five minutes of being cast to heavy bubbling. very good angling!

Mill Lake Brace

top rod!

after shouting my mouth off saying that Harry had to come back as he hadn't had a twenty out of Lodge Lake yet, what does he go and do on his last night ? yep, goes and bags himself a 20lb common! very well done Harry, four fish and a lake record on your first session... outstanding!

27 May 2009
Lodge Lake - pb factory!
not to be outdone by his mate Harry, here's Scott Baron getting in on the action with a 22 + mirror known as "Scar"

lots of fish at the moment shoing a distinct preference for the SBS Baits, corn shaped boilies
26 May 2009
wildie ?
with it's long lean frame, massive fins and spiky dorsal this beautiful 19lb + common that fell to Harry Almond looks very much like an old English wildie... and it fights like one too. not the biggest fish in the lake by any stretch of the imagination but just look at it!
26 May 2009
Lodge Lake record
not content with his 19lb + common, young Harry Almond went and followed it up not half an hour later with Warty at a new Lodge Lake best weight of 32lbs exactly. a pb for Harry by over 11lbs and he'll have to go some to try and top that in the North of England. you've still not had a 20 though Harry so you'll have to come back and put that right!
25 May 2009
more than just big carp
whilst most of our focus on this website centres around the big carp and cats that swim in Mill and Lodge lake it's worth remembering the crackin sport that's on offer in Newtons. with carp to mid doubles, bream to 9lb +, perch to 4lb and some superb roach to well over 2lbs a great day can be had by anyone and everyone with the very real chance of a fish of a lifetime showing up!

21 May 2009
NEW THIRTY FROM LODGE
Like London buses! you wait the best part of three weeks
for the big fish to show then two come along in two nights. this one fell to Jamie Steeden who capped a memorable 24hrs with a new pb in the shape of Single Scale at 30lbs exactly. unfortunately Jamie's camera had died on him and he had to make do with phone shots, which explains the sightly dodgy picture.

20 May 2009
FIRST THIRTY!
great news today, as Four Seasons Fisheries produces it's first 30lb carp
the superb fish fell to the rods of Bill Taylor shortly after midnight and tipped

Mill Lake update
Mill Lake has really sprang in to life this last week, producing more than 40 fish with an average of
over 17lbs. we had a new Mill best for both carp and catfish this week, the carp being a chunky linear of 23lbs
whilst the cat weighed in at a massive 31lbs, upping Gary Lonsdales pb by exactly 31lbs!, Gary also went on to
and a common of 16lbs+ which was also a pb, not bad for his first session at Four Seasons!
17 May 2009
Mill Lake Common

catch reports
a successful first week at Four Seasons has seen in excess of 30 carp and a cat came out of Mill Lake with an average of over 15lbs and on Lodge, 12 fish, averaging over 24lbs. biggest so far from Mill was a 20lb 9oz common which unfortunately went back un photographed due to the horendous weather conditions it was banked in. on Lodge the biggest carp to date fell to the rods of Paul Rowley from Bacup who got the rewards he deserved for setting up in the teeth of what can only be described as hurricane strength winds, in the shape of an amazingly dark old warrior of a mirror at 26lb 6oz. hopefully better pics to follow. as far as i know there's only one other carp to come out since my last update, that being a 22lb linear. the first Lodge Lake cat put in an appearance early Thursday morning, with one of our larger specimens, 44lb 4oz, falling to carp tactics, pictures to follow hopefully. Finally Kurt Brewster landed a 22lb grassie in the early hours of this morning. not sure if there's any pictures of that one about but if there are i'll get them on her ASAP. any anglers with good photo's of your Four Seasons fish, please email them to fourseasonsfisheries@btconnect.com and i'll try to get them on here to keep everyone up to speed with what's going on.

WEATHER ADVICE
Just a quick word of advice in light of the current very high winds, if you're intending
putting up a bivvy or a brolly during yor stay at Four Seasons we strongly advise you
bring long tent pegs, preferably of a corkscrew nature, or any spare bank sticks you
might own.

LODGE LAKE
A slow start on Lodge lake as the first 24 hours produced only 2 lost fish but as the anglers came to terms with the weed and the bankside disturbance reduced, the fishing really kicked into gear with 6 coming out in the following 24. First off the mark at around 10 am on Sunday the 3rd was Wigan rod Brian Steele with a fantastic dark grey mirror of 24lb 8oz (pictured). a proud moment or Brian and also for all of us at Four Seasons, the first of many I'm sure. A local angler by the name of Dave was next up at around 6pm with a very similar looking fish to the first at around 22lbs closely followed by Brians fishing partner John Stirzaker who banked an evening brace, the first being a stunning linear of 22lb 8oz the second a 17lb 4oz grassie. During a very wild night Kurt Brewster finally got off the mark with a 19lb 15oz mirror, very honest Kurt! and richly deserved, and John Stirzaker got back amongst 'em when he banked probably the prettiest fish in the lake, the starburst mirror, at a spawned out 21lb 4oz. this fish has to be seen to be believed, stunning! the last fish to come out came to the rods of local angler Lee Eastwood when he banked a scale perfect common of 23lb. that brings us bang up to date with the catch reports, as for methods, ensuring your bait is presented above or resting on top of the blanket weed seems to be paramount, with bright baits scoring well. but it's still early days so if you've got a few ideas give them a go.

Lodge Lake Biggie
25lb common caught today @ 14:00 to the rods of John Corcoran of Runcorn. THEY'RE ON THE MUNCH!!!

Mill Lake opening
MILL LAKE : as I type this update 4 days in, the fish count has just reached 24 carp and 1 catfish. with an average weight of just over 15lb. most of the fish have been showing from the largely ignored area of the lake between pegs 5 and 9. first fish out, a 12lb common, came a couple of hours in to a local angler Andrew Donovan, a newcomer to the sport, who coped admirably with the pressure of having the eyes of the fishery (not to mention Des Taylor) on him. in fact he coped so admirably he did it all again less than an hour later when he banked a slightly larger mirror around the 14lb mark. Andy Walker of SBS baits fished the opening 24 and after a slow start really got amongst them, landing 5 fish averaging 16lbs. all his fish being taken on our own Four Seasons boilies tipped off with SBS new corn shaped boilies, a top tip there from a top angler. thus far the biggest fish to grace the banks came to the rods of local angler Steven Martindale who equalled his common carp pb with a specimen of 20lb 9oz.

Off and running
After almost 2 years of planning and development, Four Seasons Fisheries opened it's doors on the 2nd of May, a date that changed the face of carp fishing in the North West of England forever. Here's Des Taylor toasting Mill Lake, surrounded by (from left to right) Jon, Ben, Dave and Mark.
